Most standard Hypnobirthing courses aren’t a complete birthing education like ours. Our hypnobirthing home study course contains 8 CDs/Mp3s and a 220 A4 manual. That is up to 6 more CDs than other most Hypnobirthing courses. Mothers have attended Hypnobirthing classes and found they forgot most of what was taught and didn’t have the reference material to practice the techniques. They would have benefited from our Home Study Course with all the information readily accessible whenever it is required.
In addition to this, we have eight years of teaching and refining the Hypnobirthing Home Study Course, from hypnobirthing mothers, so we know it works well. Kathryn Clark, the author is an experienced Pregnancy and Birth Counsellor and there is a large therapeutic element in our Hypnobirthing course, to ensure you are at your most calm and confident on your very special birthing day.
The Hypnobirthing Home Study Course gives the full benefit of antenatal birth education while providing added Hypnobirthing tools and techniques. It is a complete stand-alone and extremely comprehensive birth preparation course, so you don’t need to buy any other book or attend any other kind of class to achieve the birth you desire.
Other childbirth programs tend to teach how to ‘cope with and manage pain.’ Hypnobirthing is based on the premise that a healthy woman, with an uncomplicated pregnancy, will be able to birth in a more comfortable manner, without unnecessary interventions. We focus on the joy of birth and positively anticipate our birthing day. When women understand that pain is caused by constrictor hormones (created by fear), they learn to release fear and create endorphins instead.
Endorphins are the ‘feel good hormones’ that we naturally produce when we are calm and happy. Rather than exhausting, shallow breathing and the distraction techniques of typical “prepared childbirth” programs; Hypnobirthing mothers learn specific breathing and total relaxation, which enables mothers to work in harmony with their body and baby. The result is often a shorter and often pain free birthing for mother and baby.
It is completely possible and even likely for you to have a pain free (or very manageable) childbirth while you use the Hypnobirthing Hub techniques taught to you during the course. The Hypnobirthing Hub has the highest rates of women having a natural pain-free birth, than any other course known to us worldwide.
When the main cause of pain ‘fear’ that constricts the birthing muscles is eliminated, birthing can be accomplished in a shorter period and much more comfortably. A relaxed mother’s body will produce more endorphins, nature’s own relaxants. Hypnobirthing mothers will still experience sensations of tightening or pressure; but most describe their birth experience as working with their body through the sensations, and so avoid the excruciating pain that is frequently spoken of by women who have prepared for their birth differently. Women from all over the world have had positive, comfortable natural births thanks to Hypnobirthing. See their stories for yourself.
Contrary to some people’s belief; each Hypnobirthing mother is in a state of complete awareness during her birthing time. The Hypnobirthing mother is deeply relaxed, but she can choose to go into and out of her deep relaxation ‘Hypnosis’ whenever she wishes. Importantly she is an active participant in the birthing process. Though she is deeply relaxed, she is totally aware and may return to conversation or choose to become mobile. Hypnobirthing mothers often find they experience time distortion, so the birthing time passes quickly.
The Hypnobirthing Home Study Course will give you many tools to fully prepare yourself for birthing. This includes creating a birth plan where you will choose the best birth environment for your and your baby’s needs. Hypnobirthing techniques can be used to improve any kind of birthing situation. Our birth plans have sections specifically designed for Caesarean, Epidural and Induction births. See our birth plans.
The Hypnobirthing Hub provides a complete birth education and not just natural childbirth information. This means that you are fully aware of all the medical interventions that may be offered on the birthing day. Therefore if there is a change of plans to your birthing, you will confidently be able to make the best decision for you and your baby. In the event that medical intervention of any sort is needed, you will find yourself better able to remain calm and in control. Mothers who have needed caesareans for medical reasons, report that they were totally relaxed before, during and after the procedure. Many report that they needed little or no medication following the birth, and they were able to return to normal functioning in a very short period of time.
We recommend learning Hypnobirthing techniques when mothers are 20 weeks to 35 weeks pregnant. However, the course is broken down in such a way that even after 35 weeks, mothers can adopt the tools that they need to have a safe, natural gentle birth. It only takes 15 hours to be fully ready for your amazing birth and after this time, there are recommended practice sessions to keep your skills ready for birthing.
Hypnobirthing is practiced worldwide and has great support from midwives and doctors. Many are so impressed by our course they recommend us highly to all their mothers to be. See for yourself and read their reviews.
Our Hypnobirthing course helps you to make a birthing plan which will involve discussing your options and preferences with your midwife or doctor at the earliest opportunity. With your birth plan in hand, it will be your guide to start a discussion with your medical care giver. Once a care giver understands your birth preferences and the vast amount of knowledge that you have gained through the Hypnobirthing Hub course, they are usually very supportive of your informed choices.
Yes, many women have had the most amazing births without partners attending for lots of reasons. It is always better to be supported during your birth; however you will be surprised how skilled and confident you will become in the Hypnobirthing tools. If you need some additional support, look into hiring a Hypnobirthing Doula.
In an ideal world, partners would read every word, listen to every recording and become a Hypnobirthing Zen master. For many dedicated partners, that is exactly what will happen and they will be the most amazing strength, guide and support on the birthing day. In reality for many, no matter what we say or do, some partners will not fully participate in the course. That is why we have sections in the manual just for partners, summary guides and importantly, a relaxation track just for partners ‘Birth Partner, Relax and be Confident’. Therefore, even after a small amount of training, your partner will be your wonderful support on your beautiful birthing day.

Hypnosis is a completely natural, relaxing state, like daydreaming or meditation, where the ‘busy’ part of your mind quietens to help you focus, imagine and actively listen to positive suggestions that help to reprogram your mind in a beneficial way, so you start to feel positive about birth and all fear is gone. Ever been so absorbed in your thoughts that you can’t remember much of the drive home? That’s hypnosis – simply a state of relaxing imaginal absorption.
Once the link to the free sample Mp3 has been sent to your email account, there are 120 hours before the link expires. If you simply forget or leave the link too long, all you need to do, is go back to the Hypnobirthing Hub site and request again a free sample Mp3 and a fresh new link will be resent.
Yes, because Hypnosis a natural state of mind, it is simply deep relaxation or meditation. Everyone is capable of entering hypnosis if they want to. The more you do it, the better you get at doing it – just like learning any other skill. It’s a myth that some people are unable to be hypnotised. However never use hypnotherapy whilst operating heavy machinery (e.g. driving) or under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or if you suffer from psychiatric or psychotic illnesses that distort your sense of reality.
No, not at all, as you will be using self-hypnosis to take yourself into a deep state of calm and focus during each contraction. Your birth partner may assist you if you wish, by using certain practiced triggers, but essentially you are the one in control of switching off that busy part of your mind. The more you practice self-hypnosis during pregnancy by listening to the Mp3s/CDs, the better you get at going rapidly into hypnosis. With very regular practice this skill becomes very automatic, enabling you on the day of the birth to easily switch off, sink deep down and breathe calmly.
Sometimes people can worry about whether they’re ‘in hypnosis’ properly, and if Hypnobirthing is ‘working’. The shortest explanation is – it’s working if you’re feeling more confident about the birth. Everyone experiences hypnosis a bit differently, but as long as you’re actively listening to and agree with the suggestions, it’s having an effect. Every time you enter hypnosis during pregnancy it becomes easier. As long as you’ve practiced regularly during pregnancy, you can trust in your own self-hypnosis skills during the birth too.
No, it just means that you were completely relaxed and your mind is accepting the positive birth suggestions. There is an intermediate state between being awake and asleep, where brainwaves slow down and the subconscious becomes more suggestible. It is in this beneficial state, before deep sleep that many Hypnobirthing Hub mothers happen to listen to the Mp3s/Cds. That is why we have designed the Hypnobirthing Program to have many of the Mp3/Cds to be listened to as you drift off to sleep. However if you feel you have completely fallen asleep all the time, it is worthwhile to listen and agree with the suggestions you are hearing, while you are awake. So at least sometimes, make the time to practice when you’re not so tired.
